Need for Comprehensive View to Have A Sound Judgment
Our judgment should not be based on a limited viewpoint. For example we should not just make a decision by just seeing a child shout due to the pain during a shot. We should also take into account the issue of the child’s health. Or, for example, we see a woman having pain during labor but we should also take into account the joy of having children.
So our outlook should be comprehensive when making judgments about the world and its problems. We should not be like someone who looks through a tiny hole in the wall. He sees the head and then neck of a camel but he would see an entire camel string if he climbs over the wall.
The Holy Quran says don’t do injustice to orphans because you may die and your children become orphans too.
So you should have the past, the present and the future together and then make a decision.
According to a Hadith, God gives rewards to some people on the Day of Judgment and tells them it is for something they had prayed for in the world but was not given to them as it was not in their interest.
Sometimes a child cries and asks for a toy or something and the father refuses to buy it. The child gets angry and calls his dad a bad father. But years later he learns that the father had saved the money all those years to buy him a house and he appreciates what his dad has done.
That is the case in ruling a country as well. Sometimes people in a country go through difficulties and have to endure pressures but before complaining, they should see whether going through these problems is in the interest of the country and the nation.
Another example is in the medical field. Sometimes doctors cut off a person’s hand in order to help him stay alive.
So in making a judgment about God’s Adl (justice), we should have a comprehensive outlook and take into account all aspects and dimensions of issues.
